This post was originally titled “It’s a Heat Wave,” but this one just seems way more appropriate. No matter where you live, I’m sure you can identify! They both sum up the playlist in my head lately… except for Luke Bryan’s “Drunk On You” or Justin Beiber’s “Boyfriend.” I’m diverse like that.
As I sit and wait on the 578 pictures from our July 4th week at the lake to upload, I wanted to share this little photo montage from this morning. Like an idiot, I decided it was a good idea to take both kids and three dogs on a walk in 100-degree heat. I’m smart like that.
This is before we left the driveway. I should’ve taken a hint when two of the three dogs tried to ride in the stroller immediately.
Trey manned up, though, and all was looking well. Side note: Someone really needs to edge their lawn.
Trixie, on the other hand, was having no part of this “walking” business.
About one mile in, the dogs were panting so hard I decided to let them rest in the shade. Here is how that worked out…
Tyler and Caroline were hot, too, and didn’t appreciate both Trey AND Trixie on their laps.
So I improvised.
While I was sorting each dog into their under-carriage basket, Connor decided he was completely over exercising for the day. Stick a fork in him… He’s DONE.
No really, he wouldn’t move. I had to wait it out for at least five minutes, then finally hoist him up with my bare hands and beg him to come with us. Poor big guy… no stroller rides for him.
We eventually made it back where all dogs collapsed under the ceiling fan with their own bowls of ice water. I’m hanging up the running shoes until this heat gets itself under control, but luckily that seems to be TOMORROW.
THANK YOU GOD.

Too funny! We have a chocolate lab {who likes her food} :) & feels the same way about this heat! And we are in WI! :)
